IOF NORTHWEST BUDDY SCHEME
The IoF North West ran a successful Mentoring Programme for a number of years but has now decided to run a less informal scheme which we have called our “Buddy Scheme” and is for the benefit of IoF Members only.
It is a chance for participants to experience a one to relationship with a Fundraising Buddy. The relationship will involve regular face to face meetings, with the possibility for additional communication via phone, Skype or email.
All participants must be individual members of the Institute of Fundraising and should have the support of their employers to participate. All participants will be involved in fundraising. The scheme will be managed by the IoF North West committee. Matching of participants to a Buddy will be managed by the IoF North West Committee.
Applications are open to apply for a Fundraising Buddy – see below for a link to the application form.
The Buddy Scheme will be open to all individual members of the Institute of Fundraising based in the North West region. Where possible the match of a participant to a Buddy will take in geographic proximity as a priority. The expectation is that participants will travel to meet their Buddy for face to face meetings; however each relationship will be left to decide on meeting arrangements.
We hope to have a number of “Fundraising Buddys” available which will hopefully accommodate all applications – if this is not the case applicants will be advised at the time of applying that there may be a wait for a Buddy.
On average, it is expected that relationship will have 3 to 4 meetings over a period of 3 months. After which it will be a decision of both parties to continue the relationship.
Cost: Participants are expected to pay a £50 administrative charge. There is no charge to be a Buddy. All participants must be able to cover the travel expenses associated with the scheme.
Please note that a Buddy is not a unpaid consultant and is there for your support in your fundraising role.
Finally, to reiterate all participants need to ensure they are Individual Members of the Institute of Fundraising.
